I'm happy to announce that I am writing a series of articles for SFSignal.com and the first is live as of today. Read it here.
The articles are for writers (science fiction and fantasy is encouraged, though not required). These articles will talk about how to "train" a character to perform accurate and believable physical feats.
I first had this idea after reading The Dresden Files urban fantasy series. I am a fan of these books and of Jim Butcher's writing, but the athletic abilities of the title character have always stood out to me as problematic. Without calling out books that I enjoy by name, I get into one of the problems with Harry Dresden's physical abilities in my first article, Writing The Body Electric (part 1).
I hope you enjoy it.
