Are High Fat Diets Healthy?

Here's what we know:

1) The low-fat trend in the 80's coincided with a rise in lifestyle diseases (diabetes, obesity, heart disease).

2) People on low carb diets won't shut the fuck up about how much weight they've lost.

A new study conducted by the National Institutes of Health found that while low fat and low carb dieters both lose weight, the low carb people lost more fat, lowered cholesterol, gained lean muscle, and fought a walrus.

But what about normal people? Well, I'm not normal people, but I'm the best I've got.

This Thursday I end my 8 week cold thermogenisis experiment. I'll wrap that up with a review of The Cool Fat Burner ice vest as well as a comparison of my before and after blood screen tests.

When that is all done I will begin a high-fat diet for 8 weeks.

I won't begin right away because I want to plan out the diet. I will talk through my choices, post links to various articles, sites, and recipes. I will talk through what "high-fat" means and how I am implementing it. Once I begin, I will check in weekly with body measurements, scale weight, BMI results and, if I can swing it, a final blood test to track my cholesterol, triglycerides, and such.

Then I will fight a walrus.
