Exercise That Fucking Works At Building Muscle

I don't like high impact exercise.

Dude, I'm 40 this year. My joints don't respond well to jogging or boot camps or P90FU. Screw that crap. It's stupid.

I came up with the criteria for aging nerds who think exercise is not fun but don't want to die young diseased and obese. It's actually pretty simple: maintained elevated heart rate (cardio) fused with low impact eccentric and isometric strength training. What the fuck is that?

Maintained elevated heart rate (cardio) - strengthens your heart, gets blood to the outer edges of your body, arteries, veins, brain, all that stuff you've been ignoring.

Low impact - If you don't jog, don't start now. Jogging is high impact and, lets face it, it sucks. It's not fun. It's stupid. You can get hit by a truck. You ever flip through a jogging magazine (seriously? Who read that crap?) Jogging mags are, like 50% about recovering from injuries. You get an injury and you stop exercising. Knock that shit off.

Eccentric - Do you really want to read about eccentric vs concentric exercises? Read this, then
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eccentric_training
The basic idea is that the muscle movement of lowering (eccentric) from, say, a chin up, will build more muscle and burn more stored fat than the movement of raising (concentric).

So, don't waste your energy raising when you can be lowering.

Isometric - Clenching and holding a muscle without moving it. Like Hulk Hogan.

Guess what? It raises your heart rate and it does great things for your definition. Not super effective at building muscle and burning fat, but hey, it's low impact and is more effective at showing the muscles in your legs, arms, and shoulders than lifting weights.

That's it! It's not hard! Stop doing the other shit. It's a waste of time that could be spent playing video games.
